Historic Geisinger Medical Center Joins the Air Charter Safety Foundation’s Aviation Safety Action Program

Washington, DC – December 16, 2024 – The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) proudly announces that Geisinger Medical Center has joined the ACSF’s Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), further solidifying its commitment to advancing safety in the aviation industry.

Geisinger Medical Center has a 100-plus year history of providing healthcare in rural and urban Pennsylvania. Geisinger, a leader in medical air transportation in central and northeast Pennsylvania for over 40 years, is nationally recognized for its dedication to safety. The Geisinger Life Flight program’s adoption of cutting-edge technology, including night vision equipment, single-pilot instrument flight certification, and satellite tracking systems, has consistently exceeded the National Transportation Safety Board’s requirements.

The ACSF’s ASAP Program fosters a culture of transparency and continuous improvement by enabling participants to voluntarily report safety-related concerns without fear of reprisal. This crucial program promotes a proactive approach to safety by identifying and mitigating risks before they escalate into incidents. Additionally, ASAP encourages the sharing of corrective actions and safety information with the broader private and business aviation community, significantly enhancing industry-wide safety practices.

President and CEO of ACSF, Bryan Burns, expressed his enthusiasm for the Geisinger’s participation: “Geisinger Medical Center’s decision to join the ACSF’s ASAP underscores their unwavering commitment to safety and operational excellence. Their decades of experience and reputation as a leader in medical air transportation make them an invaluable addition to the program. Together, we can continue to advance safety practices and create a safer aviation environment for all.”

Geisinger Medical Center’s involvement in the ASAP highlights its dedication to not only delivering life-saving medical services but also ensuring that the highest standards of safety are met for its patients, crews, and the community it serves.
