FAA Director of Flight Standards Service to Speak at Air Charter Safety Symposium

Alexandria, VA, January 21, 2011— Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Director of Flight Standards Service John M. Allen will speak at the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) Air Charter Safety Symposium on March 15-16, 2011, at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Training Center in Ashburn, Virginia.

Allen joined the FAA in 1991 and was appointed director, flight standards service in 2008. He leads an organization of more than 4,800 aviation professionals responsible for promoting the safety of flight for civil aircraft by setting regulations and standards for air carriers, air agencies, general aviation, airmen, and designees.

Allen will speak to symposium attendees on the latest FAA initiatives affecting Part 135 and 91K operators, including pilot training, air safety procedures, pilot fatigue, duty time and other FAA initiatives aimed at mitigating accidents, emphasizing risk management, and implementing safety management systems (SM).
