Washington, DC, January 12, 2022 — The Air Charter Safety Foundation, a non-profit aviation safety organization, welcomes CHI Aviation (chiaviation.com) as a participating rotor wing company in the ACSF’s Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). CHI Aviation’s ASAP participation is a direct benefit of its membership in Helicopter Association International (HAI), an organization that provides support and safety-related services for the international helicopter community.
The ASAP is a voluntary, self-reporting program that enables ACSF member companies to identify and reduce possible flight safety concerns, as well as to mitigate risk. In cooperation with the FAA, the ACSF serves as a third-party manager of the ASAP for its members, including rotor wing operators, on-demand charter operators, fractional operators and corporate flight departments.
“We’re very pleased to add ACSF to our current toolbox of safety processes,” noted Jim Wilkerson, CHI Aviation’s Director of Operations. “Helicopter Association International, of which we’re members, is partnering with the ACFS to encourage more cost-effective, voluntary reporting of safety issues, and we couldn’t be happier about it,” he added. “It’s an initiative that enables us and other members to promptly identify, report and resolve potential safety hazards without any fear of reprisal, and that’s a welcome opportunity.”
The ACSF’s President, Bryan Burns, said he’s delighted to welcome HAI members’ access to the Aviation Safety Action Program. “The bottom line is that this benefit of HAI membership—letting rotor wing aircraft participate in the ASAP—is helping us further our mission of enhancing aviation safety through the prevention of accidents and incidents,” Burns said, “And that’s really what matters most to us.”
