Washington, DC, September 16, 2020 — Life Link III (lifelinkiii.com), an air medical transportation company with one airplane and nine helicopter bases across Minnesota and Wisconsin, has joined the non-profit Air Charter Safety Foundation (acsfdev.com) and its Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP).
The ACSF provides an array of programs for its 240+ members, enabling them to achieve the highest levels of safety in personal, charter and business aviation.
The ASAP is administered by the ACSF in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Life Link III’s ASAP membership enables its employees to voluntarily report significant safety concerns, non-compliance with regulations and other unusual events. Each report is investigated, and corrective actions are determined based on a non-disciplinary approach to flight safety.
Matthew Nelson, the Director of Operations at Life Link III, regards his company’s membership in the Aviation Safety Action Program as a means to help its operational control center specialists, mechanics and pilots navigate any safety-related issues as they arise. “We have a ‘Just Culture’ at Life Link III, and safety is interwoven in everything we do. One of our beliefs is ‘do the right thing even when it’s difficult,’” Nelson explained. “Sometimes, speaking up is difficult if you make an error or feel something is unsafe. But we’re all human, and we’re going to make mistakes. To have the opportunity of bringing forward that error or lesson learned, without fear of any consequences, is extremely important.”
“Life Link III’s team members share in the attitude that safety above and beyond what is considered regulatory is a critical goal,” said ACSF President Bryan Burns. “We’re excited to welcome this award-winning air transport operations firm to our growing membership.”
