Alexandria, VA, February 21, 2008 – This week, the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) hosted a first-of-its-kind event for the on-demand and shared aircraft ownership industry – the Air Charter Safety Symposium.
Over 100 industry leaders gathered at the symposium, held in cooperation with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) at their Training Center, and devoted two days to learning how to implement, achieve and maintain a healthy safety culture.
“The enthusiasm generated by the symposium is both remarkable and commendable,” said ACSF President James K. Coyne. “The impressive turnout is a clear indication that the ACSF is fulfilling a key need in our industry.”
NTSB Member Robert Sumwalt delivered the keynote address and expressed his appreciation to the ACSF and those in attendance for having the commitment to lead the industry toward a culture of continuous safety improvements.
Other presentations highlighted how the emergence of Safety Management Systems is being managed internationally, an overview of the Part 135 on-demand safety record and the practical application of existing safety enhancing publications from the Federal Aviation Administration.
“The significant support the Air Charter Safety Symposium received from attendees, public and private sector speakers, and our sponsors reaffirms the ACSF’s role in enhancing the safety of the on-demand and shared aircraft ownership industry,” Coyne concluded.
Presentations from the Symposium are available to the public on the ACSF’s Web site at acsfdev.com.
