Alexandria, VA, May 13, 2011 — The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) held a meeting in Washington, DC last week to advance the call for the on-demand charter and fractional aircraft ownership industry to adopt a single audit standard and eliminate the need for multiple audits with varying standards.
“We had excellent participation in this meeting from the leading audit companies and numerous operators,” said ACSF Chairman Jim Christiansen. “While there is still work to do, we made excellent progress in identifying and isolating the core issues that have to be overcome.”
The ACSF Industry Audit Standard (IAS) was developed with the cooperation of and assistance from leading charter operators, fractional program managers, charter brokers, corporate charter customers, and aviation auditors. The IAS comprehensively evaluates both an air charter operator’s or shared aircraft ownership company’s Safety Management System’s compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines and its compliance with FAA regulations.
“We intend to continue to pursue the universal adoption of IAS, and are working to ensure that its implementation is a win-win for the industry, companies that are audited, and those that provide audits on a commercial basis,” added Christiansen.
With the ACSF IAS, the charter consumer can be assured that audited and registered operators are compliant with the highest standards of safety and compliance in the charter industry. Customers should look for the ACSF IAS-registered logo and encourage their preferred charter provider to participate in the program.
The ACSF makes its operator registry and key company details available at no charge so verification of IAS registration is quick and easy. Charter consumers can view the registry at acsfdev.com/registry.
