FAA Highlights Collaboration and SMS Leadership at the ACSF Safety Symposium

The Air Charter Safety Foundation was honored to welcome representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration to the 2026 ACSF Safety Symposium, where collaboration, safety leadership, and continuous improvement were central themes throughout the event.

Coverage from Aviation International News (AIN) highlighted the FAA’s participation and focus on strengthening Safety Management Systems (SMS) through industry partnership; an important message for operators across business aviation. AIN reported that the FAA is placing renewed emphasis on “collaboration toward enhancing SMS,” reinforcing the agency’s belief that safety progress is strongest when regulators and industry work together.

A Shared Commitment to Safety

At ACSF, we have long believed that the most effective safety solutions are built through open dialogue between operators, regulators, and aviation stakeholders. The FAA’s presence at the Symposium underscored the value of that partnership and the importance of maintaining clear communication as SMS programs continue to evolve.

As more operators adopt formal SMS frameworks, collaboration becomes essential; not only for compliance, but for creating systems that are practical, scalable, and effective in real-world operations.

Why SMS Matters Now More Than Ever

Safety Management Systems help organizations proactively identify hazards, manage risk, and build stronger reporting cultures. For charter and business aviation operators, SMS is no longer just a best practice—it is increasingly becoming the foundation of operational excellence.

The FAA’s engagement at the Symposium reflects the growing momentum behind SMS adoption and continuous enhancement throughout the industry. By participating directly in conversations with operators, the agency demonstrated its commitment to supporting organizations as they strengthen their safety programs.

ACSF’s Role in Advancing Industry Dialogue

The ACSF Safety Symposium is designed to bring aviation leaders together to discuss practical challenges and share actionable solutions. Having the FAA participate in those discussions added valuable perspective and helped attendees better understand the direction of safety initiatives across the national aviation system.

Events like the Symposium create opportunities for operators to ask questions, exchange ideas, and learn how peers are approaching safety culture, risk management, and SMS implementation.

Thank You to the FAA and Our Industry Partners

We appreciate the FAA’s participation in this year’s ACSF Safety Symposium and their continued commitment to engaging with industry stakeholders. Their message of partnership aligns closely with ACSF’s mission to advance aviation safety through education, collaboration, and leadership.

As the aviation community continues to evolve, one principle remains constant: safer operations are achieved when we work together.
